spore space: How to mine spice in Spore (the space stage)?

I want to claim unclaimed spice in Spore, but I don't know how to with my UFO in the space stage?How to mine spice in Spore (the space stage)?
Place a colony on the planet and raise the Terra score to at least 1, Then place buildings in your colony just like you did in the Civ stage. The colony will mine the spice for you and when you come back later the spice will automatically transfer to you.
